Last month we went to the\u00a0Mayfield Alpacas Animal Park in Sheffield<\/a>. It was a\u00a0late birthday treat for me and a chance to tick something off my 30 before 30<\/a> list (even though I’m now 30).<\/em>\u00a0We’d been wanting to go\u00a0the farm\u00a0for ages so it was nice to finally find\u00a0some time to fit a visit in. We’re already planning to go back for another trip\u00a0during the summer months.<\/p>\n

\"Mayfield<\/a><\/p>\n

We started our morning off with a coffee in the cafe and then spend\u00a0a couple of hours walking around the farm\u00a0armed with our cameras and a bag of food. If you live near Sheffield and like llamas and alpacas then it’s well worth visiting\u00a0Mayfield Animal Park.<\/em> It’s such a lovely place to have a relaxing\u00a0walk, feed the animals\u00a0and watch the ducks waddle about.\u00a0It’s a nice morning out for all ages and if you’ve got little ones they also offer educational visits<\/a>\u00a0and school trips.<\/p>\n

I think this \u00a0guy was one of my favourites. He was so happy playing in the mud and when we went over with food he gently ate it from our hands. I was a bit nervous at first (nothing new there)\u00a0<\/em>but after finally forcing myself to open out my hand and let the animals\u00a0eat I knew there was nothing to worry about – they were all very gentle and calm.<\/p>\n

He was happy to pose for photos too.<\/p>\n

I picked up this cute little ted made from alpaca wool. Isn’t he lovely?<\/p>\n

The weather wasn’t so good but it didn’t spoil the trip, actually it made our late afternoon lunch at\u00a0The Norfolk Arms pub<\/a>\u00a0very cosy. The pub is just a few minutes down the road. If you\u00a0fancy going at lunch time make sure you reserve a table in advance, it seems to be a very popular place.\u00a0I had the bean chilli and Phil went for the\u00a0ham hock (you could easily share this between 2<\/em>).<\/em>\u00a0We washed everything down with Locksley gin, naturally. The food was very good, the staff were friendly and we’d love to go back again.<\/p>\n

\"Happy<\/a><\/p>\n

By the end of our day the rain had eased off and we walked back to the city. It took around an hour but it was a much needed walk after our lovely food and a fun day out at Mayfield Animal Park. I really enjoyed seeing a totally different side to Sheffield too, the countryside is beautiful.<\/p>\n
