There are many ways to make them and I always have fun trying out something new each year. I have a couple of Mince Pie recipes coming up this month but for today&#8217;s post I&#8217;m sticking with a classic and traditional recipe. It&#8217;s also very quick and easy.\u00a0You can even opt for shop-bought pastry which is always handy if you&#8217;re short on time.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve made mine dairy free but you don&#8217;t have to. They always go down well and are the perfect treat with a glass of mulled wine.\u00a0<strong><em>This recipe makes 12 mince pies.\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Tasty Easy Mince Pies\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/daisyhatami\/25143419268\/in\/photostream\/\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4634\/25143419268_8c94942a7e_b.jpg\" alt=\"Tasty Easy Mince Pies\" width=\"761\" height=\"1024\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2><strong><em>Pastry:<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><em>Plain Flour &#8211; 250g\u00a0<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Caster Sugar &#8211; 80g sugar\u00a0<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Butter &#8211; 150g<br \/>\n<\/em>1 Egg Yolk<br \/>\n<em>Pinch of salt<\/p>\n<p>Alternatively you can use\u00a0shop-bought pastry which is both dairy free and vegan.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Easy Mince Pies Prettygreentea\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/daisyhatami\/38297672224\/in\/photostream\/\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4636\/38297672224_848c8e6fe0_b.jpg\" alt=\"Easy Mince Pies Prettygreentea\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Slice the butter then with your fingertips rub it together with the flour.<br \/>\n&#8211; Mix in the caster sugar and a pinch of salt.<br \/>\n&#8211; Mix in the egg yolk.<br \/>\n&#8211; Bring the pastry into a ball and knead for a few minutes.<br \/>\n&#8211; The dough should now be firm.<br \/>\n&#8211; Roll out very thinly, thinner than I did.<br \/>\n&#8211; Use a circle cutter or the top of a jam jar to cut out the base of each mince pie.<br \/>\n&#8211;\u00a0Use a star cutter to create the tops of your pie. I used a very small one so I&#8217;d recommend going for a medium size &#8211; you want the star to reach the edge of\u00a0each pie.<br \/>\n&#8211; Butter your baking tray and then place each circle into the cupcake holder.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Mince Pies Prettygreentea\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/daisyhatami\/39013599401\/in\/photostream\/\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4725\/39013599401_45e8438880_b.jpg\" alt=\"Mince Pies Prettygreentea\" width=\"683\" height=\"1024\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2><strong><em>Filling:<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><em>Mincemeat &#8211; 450g<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Icing sugar to dust<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Feel free to get creative and add in chopped apple, ginger, cranberries or hazelnuts. This is a quick and simple recipe so you can simply use a good\u00a0quality jar of mincemeat. I picked up a jar in M&amp;S.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a title=\"Mince Pies Stars\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/daisyhatami\/27236389789\/in\/photostream\/\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4569\/27236389789_031ee26f45_b.jpg\" alt=\"Mince Pies Stars\" width=\"683\" height=\"1024\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Add a big teaspoon of mincemeat into each pie case. It&#8217;s my favourite part of the pie so I always like to be generous with it.
