Today I’m\u00a0here to share another\u00a0Uni Life<\/a>\u00a0interview with you. The purpose behind this interview series is to give prospective and current students an insight into life at university, what it takes to get there and how to survive<\/em>.\u00a0I hope that these interviews will give you a chance to learn from current and recently graduated students about the courses you\u2019re interested in.<\/p>\n

Today’s interview is with the lovely\u00a0Nafisah, a recent\u00a0Sociology graduate.<\/p>\n

What course did you study at university?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

I studied Sociology at the University of Lancashire<\/p>\n

Did you have to study specific subjects at college to get onto the course?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

It was an essay based subject so they advised subjects like English and History and of course Sociology would help.<\/p>\n

What did you enjoy most about your course?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

I enjoyed learning about the different perspectives and if sociologist theories were accurate<\/p>\n

What did you find most challenging about your course?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

I wish it was slightly more challenging!<\/p>\n

How did you stay motivated?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

I am lucky in the sense I have will power. A Levels were a bit of a learning curve for me. I had to change a lot about the way in which I learned and revised for exams. I was able to take this with me to university which helped a lot.<\/p>\n

Were internships easy to come by in your field?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

There was a lot of competition\u00a0for them.<\/p>\n

Please tell us about an internship that you gained something positive from.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

I was provided an internship with Enrich Marketing. This allowed me to see what digital marketing would be like in a professional environment. It allowed me the motivation and solidified what I wanted (and did not want) from a career.<\/p>\n

What did you wish you knew about university life before you started?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

How much pressure you put yourself under in your final year and how this can affect you mentally.<\/p>\n

What advice would you offer to prospective Sociology students?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Have fun. Sociology is meant to be full of debates ,discussion and learning, cherish that.<\/p>\n

What did you do in your spare time at university?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

I was part of an apolitical charity called UK Youth Parliament<\/a>. I also took part in the Islamic Society at my university.<\/p>\n

What was your go to meal after a busy day of lectures?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

You couldn’t beat a good old Chicago town pizza and beans (I am really healthy).<\/p>\n

Finally, what are your career plans for 2016?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

I have some plans up my sleeve but I have learnt in my time the importance of working hard and having fun doing it. That is what I plan to do.<\/p>\n
