Last week a bottle of Rock Rose gin arrived at my house, all the way from Dunnet Bay Distillery. Not the original\u00a0kind<\/a> though, this time Martin and Claire<\/a> have\u00a0launched a spring\u00a0edition<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n

It comes in their classic\u00a0ceramic bottle but with a beautiful green and yellow twist, perfect for spring.<\/p>\n

It’s been a very gin focused couple of months with the recent Cambridge Gin Festival<\/a>.\u00a0I wasted no time in opening up the bottle that very evening to give it a try. The sun was shining and the picnic benches in the garden of our flat were empty. There was really\u00a0no excuse not to sample the gin.<\/p>\n

The gin\u00a0contains sycamore sap, dandelion and coltsfoot. It has a smooth, fresh flavour and I can clearly pick out hints of liquorice. It has a slightly sweet kick to it which makes it very easy to drink\u00a0on it’s own.<\/p>\n

If you prefer a longer drink simply\u00a0pour in a big glug of tonic water and add sprig of coriander to garnish. If you’re restrained enough to let your drink sit for a few minutes, the coriander flavour will infuse the gin. This also goes down very easily and is the perfect addition to a spring BBQ or an afternoon relaxing in the sunshine.<\/p>\n
