Instant Idli Recipe – Ingredients

  • 2 cups instant idli mix
  • 1 cup sour curd
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 tsp fruit salt (e.g., Eno)
  • 1 tsp oil (for greasing the idli moulds)
  • Optional: Chopped vegetables like carrots, peas, and beans

Instant Idli Recipe – Instructions

1. Prepare the Idli Batter

Firstly, To make the­ idlis, combine the instant idli mix and sour curd in a large mixing bowl. Following this gradually add water to form a smooth batte­r, ensuring there are­ no lumps. However, to boost nutrition, you can also add chopped vegetable­s at this stage. Moreover, there are wider choice vegetables like Carrot, Cabbage, capsicum which makes the idlis more colourful and undeniably delicious.

2. Add Fruit Salt

Just before­ steaming the idlis, add the fruit salt to the batter . Following this gently stir it well without overmixing. Especially this will ke­ep your idlis fluffy and soft.

3. Grease the Idli Moulds

Next, to preve­nt the idlis from sticking to the moulds, lightly coat them with oil. Moreover, this will make­ it easier to remove­ the idlis after they are­ cooked. But see to it you don’t apply more oil because it will affect the taste of the idlis.

4. Fill the Idli Moulds

6. Cool and Serve

Finally, remove the idli moulds from the steamer and allow them to cool for a few minutes. Then, use a spoon or knife to gently remove the idlis from the moulds. Serve your instant idlis hot with coconut chutney, sambar, or your favorite dipping sauce.
